DHAKA, March 10, 2024 —Fisheries and Livestock Minister Md Abdur Rahman today stressed the need to make more efforts to achieve the export target of Taka 15,000 crore in the fisheries sector.
“Bangladesh will have to achieve the export target of Taka 15,000 crore in the fisheries sector. Innovative thinking should be adopted and implemented to increase production,” he said.
The minister said this while speaking as the chief guest at a workshop on “Problems and Prospects of Bangladesh’s Fish Processing Industry in the Context of Transition from Least Developed Country” held at BIDA’s multipurpose hall in the city. 
Executive Chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) Lokman Hossain Miah presided over the workshop.
Abdur Rahman said the fisheries sector has been vital to national development by providing safe animal meat, creating healthy and talented human resources, alleviating poverty, creating employment, and earning valuable foreign exchange. (Source: BSS)
